April 30 , 2011 Bronx, NY- Both Gravity and Kel came into this battle after a full day at the Bamboozle festival in New Jersey in which both were part of an all star line up of bboys competing for over $5000 in prizes. Gravity once again gets the victory. 5th in the series. He moves on, [literally, since he picked up & moved west].

In the end though, this battle was more about who was in better condition, who could go farther into the deep & still maintain their composure. It was a decent battle, both brought a few, new original moves from their arsenal, Kel in FENZ fashion bringing some hard moves involving his ponytail [just catchin it while moving is a challenge]..the clever moves werent enough on this night though, he needed energy that wasnt available to him. In the final analysis, Kels physique, which is deisel, may have been his downfall. Muscle being heavy, can weigh you down, especially over exerted muscle. To be fair to the brother, maybe he was low on fuel, coming from a long day competing, your body needs to be replenished, with fluids and food. In those situations sometimes the options arent great. If youre low on good food, your mind can say one thing, but your body is gonna do another..& the more muscle you got, the more its gonna require.

When they rolled thru The Point at around 8PM, I could tell they were both a little battle weary. I approached each seperately and asked how they felt & if they were ready. Both indicated readiness. Both had their game face on, ready to go in for 7 Rounds.

At that point I knew this would be as much a test of endurance and stamina as it was of skill and technique. I knew Kel had what it would take to beat a Gravity, hes got Soul, originality and power to match, but at that moment, could he bring the fire and passion necessary to overcome Gravities aggressive, style, energy & attitude in battle. The result was that he did not. Not that night. Nevertheless, Killa Kel can hold his head up high, he gave it all he got, was nice & battled it out to the very end.

I being one whos seen Gravity emerge & evolve, know hes all about the battle, his heart moves before his mind & body, & he goes in almost with reckless abandon. puttin it all on the line, almost as if hes battling for survival. Some have said he has confidence bigger than his skillset, which enables him to transcend his weaknesses & rough edges. I would say, keep watchin him, his repertoire gets stronger all the time. How else can you be in the scene for a bout 6 years and gain the notoriety he has in the worldwide Bboy community. Its because people know, he wont back down from a challenge. If theres a battle goin on..Gravities probably there front & center making crowds ooo & aahhh. He takes all comers head on with lots of city born attitude and fearlessness. Someone once told me Gravity is really a Battle Master, before a Bboy Master..whatever you wanna call him, he held the Title here in New York City, and know one took it from him while he had it. The brother leaves unscathed, taking on the next big challenge. You'll be missed my bro. you did good. Take care of that overgrown heart, [i call it A lions heart], and your wifey & baby girl. You'll be missed, but not forgotten.. for you'll forever go down as the1st Official BBOY MASTER in the Series.
